About the event
The prize winning classical guitarist Kianush Robeson has been a prolific performer since he graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music in 2018 1st class with honours where he studied with John Mills. Whilst studying he won the John Mills guitar prize and went on to place as finalist in the Houston International Guitar Competition 2021 and semi-finalist in the London Guitar Competition 2020. He has toured extensively throughout the south coast of England with his new programme ‘Impressions of Segovia’ and is much loved by audiences who praise his tone and musical sensitivity. This success has led to a landmark recording of the programme in Spain with the recording artist Javier Salvador to be released in early 2024. Kianush’s unique sound has led well known luthiers to seek him out for video recordings on their guitars with him collaborating often with luthiers like Stephen Eden, Stuart Christie and more to record on their instruments. As a teacher Kianush has become one of the most respected educators in the country with his pupils often gaining scholarships at highly selective conservatoires and he has been a regular tutor for many years at the prestigious Royal Greenwich Classical Guitar Festival held at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Beyond this, his interest in sharing music and his love of the guitar has led him to found and create two guitar societies in Bexhill and Hertfordshire and has founded international concert series in each location providing free concerts and events to members of the local community. Kianush plays on a guitar built by Phillip Woodfield in Catsfield East Sussex.
